Two Girls’ Soccer Players Commit to Santa Barbara
Two standout girls’ soccer players have committed to play for UC Santa Barbara and plan to sign letters of intent. Today is the first day such letters can be signed for soccer.
El Toro’s Shawn Viloria, who was the Southern Section Division 4-A offensive player of the year and The Times’ Orange County player of the year last season, and Corona del Mar’s Kristen Borland, who was a second-team all-Division 4-A selection as a junior last season, join Los Alamitos’ Julie Harris, a first-team all-Division 4-A selection who already has committed to play for Santa Barbara.
Harris broke a bone in her foot during the final five minutes of Los Alamitos’ final game during the regular season and will miss the Southern Section playoffs.
Borland skipped the high school soccer season this year to play for the Los Angeles Blues, a women’s club team.
Each of the players also competes for the Fountain Valley Sting, the defending Southern California youth soccer champions.
