Tri-City Christian 57, Lutheran 55--Lutheran (9-8, 7-2) blew a wide-open layup in the final seconds that would have tied the game. John Afwhari led Tri-City (15-7, 8-1) with 16 points. Lutheran’s Paul Sellke led all scorers with 18. Coastal League

La Jolla Country Day 113, Mountain Empire 66--Somewhat amazingly, La Jolla Country Day (18-4, 10-1) lost to Mountain Empire (11-10, 7-4) in the first meeting this season, 106-102. Mountain Empire made 11 three-pointers in that game and missed very few shots.

This time, La Jolla Country Day’s defense was tighter and the shots didn’t fall. La Jolla Country Day, which had 20-point scoring efforts from Larry Cheng and Jason Boyle, clinched the Coastal League title with the victory and set a school record for total points.
