COUNTYWIDE : Beach Party Seeks Vendors, Volunteers

Share

Organizers of Ventura’s sixth annual California Beach Party are searching for vendors, caterers and volunteers for the two-day event in April.

The party will spread along Ventura’s beach promenade April 27 and 28, with five stages featuring surf bands and groups popular in the ‘50s, said Ventura special events coordinator Faye Campbell.

About 50 booths for commercial vendors and several spots for individuals selling arts and crafts are available, Campbell said.

Organizers are looking for vendors selling beach items such as shell jewelry, surfboards, sunglasses and beach clothing or offering a beach-related service.

Twenty booths for restaurants and caterers are also available, Campbell said. “There will be an emphasis on seafood, but we’ll also accept some typical boardwalk fares,” she said.

Nonprofit groups with nautical themes may apply for space along the promenade. The Save the Whales Foundation and the Channel Islands Society will set up tables.

Volunteers are also being sought, Campbell said. About 200 volunteers will work three-hour shifts during the free event, which lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Sponsorships for two of the stages and several sporting events are still available, Campbell said. A biathlon, a volleyball tournament and the C Street long-board championship will be held.

Vendors and volunteers may call 654-7830 for applications and information. Vendors and caterers must apply by March 1.
