DIVISION II-A ROUNDUP

Share

In another II-A game:

Woodbridge 61, Rio Mesa 49--Senior forward Bryant McLemore scored six of his game-high 14 points in the third quarter to lead Woodbridge past Oxnard Rio Mesa at Camarillo High School.

Woodbridge (20-9) broke open a tight game in the third quarter behind McLemore’s play under the basket while the Warrior defense limited Rio Mesa (13-14), a wild-card team from the Channel League, to only two field goals on horrendous 13% shooting.

With a 47-34 lead going into the fourth quarter, Woodbridge went to a slow-down offense the entire quarter, forcing Rio Mesa to foul, and the Warriors answered the call at the free-throw line, converting 10 of 16 to assure the victory.

“That’s the longest delayed offense we have went into the entire season,” Woodbridge Coach Bill Shannon said. “I told the guys going into the last quarter that as long as we have the ball, they can’t score.”
