Antelope Valley 124, East Los Angeles 118--The Marauders trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half of the first-round playoff game at Antelope Valley, but rallied to take a 56-52 lead at halftime. Antelope Valley extended its lead to 23 points.

J. R. Rider scored 39 points, connecting on 18 of 25 shots from the field, and teammates Tony Madison and LeVan Lide had 26 and 23 points for Antelope Valley (25-5).

Gerald Haynes and Rider also had 12 rebounds and Lide added a career-high 12 assists.

Canyons 114, Cerro Coso 85--Canyons outmanned and outran Cerro Coso in a first-round game at home. Canyons (20-12) used all 12 players in the rout and led, 53-40, at halftime.

Reggie Bell, a freshman from Hawthorne High, scored a career-high 35 points to lead Canyons. Nick Sanderson added 16.

Imperial Valley 87, Oxnard 56--Visiting Oxnard (15-15) played the first-round game without point guard Shawn Talley, who missed the game because of chickenpox. Tim Thomas led Oxnard with 20 points.
