Marathon Crowd, Traffic Control to Cost $123,000
Organizers of this weekend’s Los Angeles Marathon will pick up a $123,000 tab for crowd and traffic control, according to a permit application approved Tuesday by the Police Commission.
The March 3 marathon, expected to draw 20,000 competitors and another 1 million spectators, will wind through six police divisions and require the services of more than 500 police and traffic control officers.
All overtime and other costs--a total of $123,484--are being billed to Los Angeles Marathon Inc. The Police Commission on Tuesday approved the organization’s permit for the officers’ time to police the event.
