One man was stabbed and another beaten early Saturday when an argument outside a restaurant and nightclub turned into a fight, police said.

Rex D. Fessel, 28, of Fullerton suffered multiple stab wounds in the right leg when he and two friends were attacked outside the Black Angus Restaurant Stuart Andersons on East Imperial Highway, Fullerton Police Lt. Tony Hernandez said.

One of Fessel’s companions, Mario Fernandez, 27, of Fontana, suffered head injuries after being “punched and kicked,” Hernandez said.

The third man, who was unidentified, escaped injury.

The three had just emerged from the club shortly before 2 a.m. when a white Volkswagen Jetta pulled alongside them in the parking lot. Inside were two men and a woman who began arguing with Fessel’s group, Hernandez said.

After a few minutes, the two men in the car got out and attacked the group, stabbing Fessel and beating Fernandez before driving off, Hernandez said.

The victims were taken to local hospitals.
