Mike Trevathan, an All-American wide receiver at Montana last season, signed a two-year contract Wednesday with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League.

Trevathan, who played at Thousand Oaks High, turned down a free-agent offer from the New York Jets. The Lions’ contract is worth $200,000, including incentives.

“(The Lions) wanted me to sign before the NFL draft,” Trevathan said. “They’ve been recruiting me since December. I feel like they really want me there and that is important to me.”

Trevathan (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) had 71 receptions for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns last season for the Grizzlies.

DiJon Barnard, an All-Western State Conference forward from Ventura College, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Cal State Fullerton, Ventura Coach Phil Mathews said Wednesday.

Barnard, a 6-4 sophomore from Compton High, also was recruited by Cal State Northridge but chose to follow in the footsteps of Cedric Ceballos, a former Ventura College standout who went from Cal State Fullerton to the Phoenix Suns of the NBA.

Barnard likely will play guard at Fullerton. He averaged 15.2 points last season, shooting 59.5% from the field and 40% from three-point range.

Sean Martin of Agoura High has made a commitment to play basketball next season at UC Davis, a non-scholarship NCAA Division II school that competes in the Northern California Athletic Conference.

Martin, a 6-foot guard, averaged 25.3 points and 5.2 assists.

The women’s basketball roster at Cal State Northridge has been bolstered by three more signings.
