In the Angelus League:

Mater Dei 10, Santa Margarita 6--Dave Gonzalez had a pinch-hit two-run home run as visiting Mater Dei (11-8, 6-3) scored six runs in the fifth to take a 10-6 lead. Darren Troilo and Chris Moore also had home runs for Mater Dei. Rich Silva (3-4) got the victory in relief.

Servite 4, Bishop Amat 1--Adam Anderson (2-3) pitched a three-hitter for host Servite (10-10, 4-6). Hip Sandoval had a two-run double to break a 1-1 tie in the sixth for Servite.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 6, Huntington Beach 1--Derek Fahs (9-2) pitched a five-hitter and struck out 10 for visiting Fountain Valley (20-4, 8-1). Brian Ponchak had a two-run double and Brad Powers had two hits and two RBIs for first-place Fountain Valley.

In the Pride of the Coast Tournament:

Orange Lutheran 7, Costa Mesa 2--Sophomore Jamie Maddock allowed three hits in four innings of relief for visiting Orange Lutheran (12-7) in the consolation-round game.

In the Edison Diving Invitational:

Jenny Maxwell of Capistrano Valley won the girls’ division with 446.20 points. Becky Wilshire (363.00) of El Toro was second and Tina Edwards (354.45) of Fountain Valley was third.

Jason Hubbart of Mission Viejo won the boys’ meet with 443.65 points. Nate Smith (412.10) of Dana Hills was second and Chad Houck (401.90) of San Marino was third.

In nonleague boys’ swimming:

San Marino 100, Capistrano Valley 70--Kevin Eggert of host Capistrano Valley (9-1) set a school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.52.
