PREP TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS : OLYMPIC LEAGUE : Orange Lutheran Girls Dominate Competition on Their Way to Title

Orange Lutheran, led by quadruple winners Erika Ebel, Amber Parkinson and Renee Wright, won all but one event Friday to easily win the Olympic League girls’ track championship at Fullerton Junior College.

Orange Lutheran finished with 228 points, doubling the total of runner-up Ayala.

Ebel won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, the triple jump and ran on the winning 400-meter relay; Parkinson won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 runs and ran on the winning 1,600-meter relay, and Wright won both hurdle events, the 400 meters and ran on the 400 relay.

Kara Stephens won the shotput and discus for Orange Lutheran, which won every event except the long jump, in which it finished second by 2 inches.

In the boys’ competition, Ayala won only one event, the triple jump, but used superior depth to finish in first with 115 points, ahead of Whittier Christian’s 106.

Top boys’ performers from Orange County included double winners Shawn Ericson of Whittier Christian and Chiron Hart of Brethren Christian. Ericson won the 1,600 and 3,200 and Hart won the 200 and 400.
