In other State tournament softball:
Sacramento City 2, Orange Coast 1--Sacramento City’s Dayna Garcia pitched a six-hitter to send Orange Coast (35-18) into the losers’ bracket. Kristin Heizer (12-6) pitched a five-hitter for Orange Coast and the winning run was unearned.
In the State community college individual men’s tennis championships:
Gauchos advance--Saddleback’s Scott Hansen defeated West Valley’s Jimmy Yamanaka, the No. 1 player from Northern California, 6-2, 6-0, in the singles quarterfinals at Chabot College in Hayward. Earlier, Hansen beat Jamie Price of Foothill, 6-0, 6-1.
Hansen and Esteban Saba beat J.B. Keen and Alex Robertson of Santa Monica, 6-4, 7-5, in the doubles quarterfinals.
