Elderly Woman Dies When Car Hits Pole
An 82-year-old Anaheim woman was killed Wednesday when her car jumped a center divider and crashed into a utility pole, authorities said.
Alice June Hollingshead was driving west on Lincoln Avenue, just west of Dell Street, at about 40 m.p.h. when she swerved across the road and struck the pole shortly after 3:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol officials said. Hollingshead, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered major injuries to the chest and abdominal area.
She was taken to UCI Medical Center, where she was dead on arrival.
Authorities said a heart attack may have caused her to lose control of the car. The accident is still under investigation.
