Argentine soccer star Diego Maradona, on bail on cocaine charges, could escape a jail term of up to two years by voluntarily joining a drug rehabilitation program, legal sources said in Buenos Aires.

Local news agencies, quoting court sources, reported that Maradona’s blood and urine samples indicated he was dependent on drugs rather than a sporadic user.
