CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : Navy Plane Crash Site Believed Found
Wreckage believed to be that of two P-3 Orion planes that collided over the Pacific in a crash that killed 27 crewman has been located by a miniature Navy submarine off the coast of Baja California, officials said. The three-member crew of the submarine Mystic searched for a month before locating and videotaping the wreckage. The planes collided March 21 during an anti-submarine warfare exercise. The tapes will be reviewed by accident investigators. The planes were assigned to Patrol Squadron 50 at Moffett Naval Air Station in Mountain View.
