BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Gott Being Treated for a Sore Shoulder

Share

Jim Gott is nursing a sore shoulder and received a cortisone injection Thursday. It has not kept him from being available to pitch, but it is sore enough to require treatments of heat and ice. “We don’t think it’s anything real unusual,” said Charlie Strasser, assistant trainer.

Not all was lost for Ramon Martinez Thursday. When he returned home after his seven-game winning streak was ended by Cincinnati, he received a call from younger brother Pedro, who had been promoted from Class-A Bakersfield to double-A San Antonio. . . . Manager Tom Lasorda said that Jeff Hamilton’s appearance at shortstop in the ninth inning Thursday did not indicate a position change. . . . Orel Hershiser said his shoulder felt good Friday, and he remains on schedule to start Tuesday in St. Louis.
