Marquez Wins Junior Tennis Championship
Ventura’s Mike Marquez upset No. 1-seeded LaGeorge Maudlin of Los Angeles, 6-2, 7-6, in the 10-year-old singles division of the 89th Southern California Junior sectional tennis championships Saturday in Costa Mesa.
Marquez was seeded second.
In boys’ 14 doubles, the No. 1-seeded team of Camarillo twins Bob and Mike Bryan advanced to today’s final with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Paul Gross of Hidden Hills and Jeremy Testewuide of Bell Canyon.
