Flaming AJ’s $338 Victory Sets Record at Los Alamitos

Pacer Flaming AJ, a 168-to-1 shot, won the 10th race Thursday night at Los Alamitos to set up the highest win payoff in Los Alamitos history.

Driven by Lloyd Higgins, Flaming AJ came from next to last in a 12-horse field at the three quarters and circled the field in the stretch to beat Denecca a nose in 2:01 1/5.

Flaming AJ paid $338.60 to win, $81.20 to place and $33.20 to show. The trifecta of Flaming AJ to Denecca and third-place finisher Ask Joyce paid a record $14,477. The Flaming AJ to Denecca (8-2) exacta paid $1,050.40.
