Quarterback Jim Kelly, who took the Buffalo Bills to the Super Bowl last season, said his pulled hamstring has healed and he will make his exhibition season debut Saturday against the Detroit Lions.

“The season’s right around the corner and it’s time to get in there and get some of the rust out,” Kelly said. “I haven’t been down under center for a while as far as with a real pass rush, so it will be nice to get into it.”

Kelly has missed the Bills’ first two exhibition games.

Quarterback Bobby Hebert of the New Orleans Saints pulled a groin muscle in practice, and may not play Saturday night against the Green Bay Packers. “I haven’t had anything like this since seventh grade,” Hebert said. “I’m probably the most flexible on the team. I always pride myself on stretching and things like that. It was just one of those things.” . . . Steve DeBerg, starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, said backup Steve Pelluer walked out of training camp because he lost interest in the game. “As far as Steve was concerned, he just kind of lost his desire for the game,” DeBerg said. “He was forcing himself to do it. He couldn’t convince himself to do it just for the money.” . . . Joe Morris, the New York Giants’ all-time rushing leader now with the Cleveland Browns, ran 15 yards for a touchdown in a scrimmage against his former team. Morris, 30, who missed the 1989 season with a broken foot and was cut at the end of training camp last season, didn’t seem to have lost any speed while running sweeps and made some quick cuts. . . . Wide receiver Ron Morris signed with the Chicago Bears, leaving tight end James Thornton as the only unsigned player on the team.
