OUTLOOK

The Hawks, ranked third in the Southern Section Division VII preseason poll, lost eight first-team, all-league players from last year’s league champion, including quarterback Casey Sullivan, running back Marwan Saba and receivers Kirk Brown and Dave Childs. “We were hit very, very hard in the skill positions,” Bresnahan said. “It will be tough to replace them, but we will certainly try.” Vedder, a left-hander, has shown a lot of potential at quarterback, Bresnahan said. Webber added 20 pounds in the off-season and will replace Saba, and Jeminez and Badeker will be the wide receivers. “Webber is all muscle,” Bresnahan said. “He’s going to be a strong back.” Maceranka is a returning starter at defensive back. “He’s going to be one of the best in the league,” Bresnahan said.
