OUTLOOK

The Eagles didn’t enjoy last season, their first in the Pacific Coast League. They went from an undefeated regular season and the Sea View League title in 1989 to 2-8 overall, 1-4 in the Pacific Coast. But Liebengood has 20 returning lettermen, and one of the league’s most dominating linemen in Oberreuter, who was suspended from school last winter for disciplinary reasons. “He’s back in school now,” Liebengood said. Quarterback Johner, who threw for 1,029 yards and five touchdowns in five games as a sophomore last season despite a hip injury, has returned at full strength.
