Wyatt’s Two Scores Help Woodbridge Top Foothill

Quarterback James Wyatt ran for two touchdowns to lead Woodbridge High School to a 25-14 victory over Foothill Friday night at Irvine Stadium.

After Woodbridge (2-0) jumped to a 19-0 halftime lead, Foothill (0-2) closed the gap to 25-14 with 2 minutes 7 seconds remaining when Woodbridge gave up a safety on fourth down but could get no closer.

Wyatt scored from 10 yards out to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead with 4:08 remaining in the second quarter.

Woodbridge made it 13-0 when Scott Stick returned a punt 45 yards for a score with 2:42 remaining in the half.

Wyatt then scored from three yards out with 47 seconds left in the half to give the Warriors a 19-0 lead.

Foothill closed the gap to 19-6 when quarterback Tom Chaix connected with Mike Urbanski on a five-yard touchdown pass with 7:35 remaining in the third quarter.

But Woodbridge moved back out to a 25-6 lead when Chris Grant returned a fumble 35 yards for a touchdown with 38 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Chaix connected with Urbanski on a 24-yard touchdown pass with 6:40 remaining to make it 25-12.
