Tustin Wins, 24-0, for Its Second Shutout in Two Games

Running back Keith Thomas scored two touchdowns as Tustin shook off a sluggish start and rolled to a 24-0 victory over Las Vegas Valley Friday night at Tustin.

It was the second consecutive shutout for the Tillers (2-0), who blanked Foothill, 6-0, last week.

Thomas broke up a scoreless contest in the second quarter when he ran 24 yards for a touchdown as Tustin took a 7-0 lead with 5:16 left in the first half. Thomas scored again on a six-yard run in the third quarter to make it 14-0.

Sophomore kicker Zach Mathews connected on a 24-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jon Miller later hit running back Maurice Fletcher with a 22-yard touchdown pass with 5:42 left in the game for the final score.

The Tillers, who started each offensive series in the second half in Viking territory, finished with 267 yards total offense. Miller completed eight of 12 passes for 110 yards. Fletcher finished as the leading rusher with 96 yards on 19 carries.

Tustin’s defense limited Valley (1-2) to 40 yards total offense in the second half and 125 yards for the game.
