PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Montoya Hopes to Be Able to Play
Guard Max Montoya, whose groin injury was aggravated during Sunday’s 16-0 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, said he hopes to play Sunday at Atlanta.
“It’s starting to come around,” Montoya said. “I feel pretty good about (playing), but I’m going to leave it up to the coaches and trainers to decide.”
After emphasizing their running game against the Colts, the Raiders might rush even more often against the Falcons.
Although Atlanta has the third-best pass defense in the NFL, the Falcons rank last against the run (156.3 yards per game).
“We’ve given up the big play,” Falcon Coach Jerry Glanville said.
“The problem this year is that we’ve taken some chances. We’ll hold a team six (plays) in a row and then we give up a 50-yard run. That’s been the big difference. We’ve never done that before.”
