Blanchard Replaces Dunlap at Canyons

Debra Blanchard, a women’s assistant basketball coach at Ventura College, was named women’s head coach at Canyons after Lady Cougars Coach Jeff Dunlap resigned to take a full-time men’s assistant position at Quincy (Ill.) College.

Ventura won the Western State Conference Northern Division title last season, Blanchard’s only season with the Lady Pirates.

Dunlap, who also served as an assistant for the Canyons men’s team, compiled a 40-23 record the past two seasons and in 1989-90 led the Lady Cougars to their first state tournament berth.
