CENTURY LEAGUE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : El Modena’s Prado Passes for 3 Touchdowns in Victory

Jose Prado’s three touchdown passes helped El Modena defeat Canyon, 31-7, Thursday at El Modena High. It was the Vanguards’ sixth consecutive victory.
Prado, who completed eight of 12 passes for 142 yards, also scored on a 3-yard run with 7 minutes 47 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and kicked four PATs.
Prado gave El Modena a 10-0 lead when he completed a nine-yard pass to Jay Montano with 10:25 left in the second quarter. He later completed a 14-yard pass to Darryll Holguin with 1:38 left in the second quarter, and a 48-yard pass to Fred Romo with 4:57 remaining in the third quarter.
El Modena’s stingy defense, which has allowed only 52 points in six games, held Canyon to 56 yards rushing and nine yards passing.
James Clarkston (62 yards, 15 carries) and Ernie Wilson (45-16) led El Modena’s running game (135 yards).
Canyon (2-3-1, 0-1) scored in the third quarter when Taylor Wilson reovered an El Modena fumble at the Canyon 15. Four plays later, Daryl Lawrence scored from the 2.
