There are plenty of well-known faces in the new film based on Jerry Sterner’s hit play “Other People’s Money.” That’s Piper Laurie playing Gregory Peck’s assistant and mistress, Bea Sullivan, and Dean Jones as his duplicitous heir, William J. Coles. :

Piper Laurie finally took the plunge--she recently bought a house in Los Angeles.

“I resisted ever owning anything in Southern California for all of these years,” says the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actress who played the evil Catherine Martell on ABC’s “Twin Peaks.”

“It was hard to buy something. . . . But it just seemed like time, so I bought a tiny little house. It’s really nice to wake up with flowers all around.”

But Laurie hasn’t had much opportunity to stop and smell the flowers. In addition to shooting “Money,” she’s been working nonstop since “Twin Peaks” left the air. She is currently in Charleston, S.C., filming Bruce Beresford’s new movie, “Rich in Love.”

Laurie took a 15-year break from acting after receiving a best actress Oscar nomination as Paul Newman’s alcoholic girlfriend in 1961’s “The Hustler.” She was married, moved to New York, dabbled in art and raised a daughter.

Laurie resurrected her career when she played the religious, fanatical mother in “Carrie,” for which she received another Oscar nomination. “Somebody thought of me for that part at a good time and I just thank my lucky stars,” she says. “I know that people very close to me thought it would be impossible to begin a career again.”
