PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Lewis Back in a Starting Role for Chiefs

Kansas City’s Pro Bowl cornerback, Albert Lewis, is expected to start at left cornerback against the Raiders on Monday night.

Lewis missed two games because of a knee injury before returning in a limited role against the Denver Broncos last week.

“He’s about 90% at this point in time,” Chief Coach Marty Schottenheimer said Wednesday.

Raider Coach Art Shell says he is tempted to hold right guard Max Montoya out of the lineup another week to take advantage of next week’s bye.

“Even if they (the trainers) say he can go, I don’t know if I’d start him,” Shell said. “Reggie (McElroy) is holding his own there and there is no immediate need to get Max on the field.”

Raider rankings: Quarterback Jay Schroeder has a rating of 71.7, fourth-worst among AFC quarterbacks. Defensive end Greg Townsend is second in the AFC with seven sacks. Kicker Jeff Jaeger leads the AFC in scoring with 68 points. The Raiders rank 20th overall in the NFL on offense and 15th on defense.
