PREP NOTES
Several members of El Dorado’s football team were turning back flips following a 7-0 upset over Los Alamitos Saturday, and for good reason. Los Alamitos was shut out for the first time since 1986, when Foothill beat the Griffins, 21-0, in the first round of the Southern Conference playoffs.
Los Alamitos had scored in 50 consecutive games before the streak ended and it marked the first time the Griffins had lost to El Dorado since 1983. Finally, it was only the sixth Empire League loss for Los Alamitos since 1984.
Up next for Los Alamitos is second-ranked Esperanza, which has an impressive streak of 20 consecutive victories over the past two seasons. “We’re going from the frying pan into the fire,” said Los Alamitos Coach John Barnes.
