COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Courter’s Goal Gives OCC Victory in Soccer

Darin Courter scored in the first half to give Orange Coast a 1-0 victory over Rancho Santiago in a Orange Empire men’s soccer match Tuesday at Rancho Santiago.

Courter scored 27 minutes into the game after getting the rebound of Scott Goldman’s penalty kick that was deflected by Rancho Santiago goalkeeper Gus Plasencia. With two games remaining in the regular season, Orange Coast (9-4-7, 6-1-3) leads second-place Irvine Valley by one point.

Irvine Valley 1, Golden West 0--Frank Pace scored a goal and Aaron Ryan had three saves for visiting Irvine Valley (13-3-2, 7-3).

Orange Coast 2, Cypress 1--The Pirates (5-3-1 in conference) scored their first goal 10 minutes into the game when Kristy Hetherington crossed the ball to freshman Trina Williams, who kicked it into the net. Williams assisted on Orange Coast’s other goal by forward Renee Pedrola 20 minutes into the second half.

Rhonda Ahrens scored with five minutes remaining for Cypress (5-3-2 in conference). Cypress remains in third place, one point ahead of Orange Coast. The Pirates have three games remaining, Cypress has two.
