Running back Nigel Bostic of Valley College will miss Saturday’s Western State Conference football game against West L. A., Coach Jim Fenwick said Wednesday.

Bostic, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound sophomore from South Park High in New York City, experienced shortness of breath and a quickened heartbeat after being tackled during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game against L. A. Southwest.

Bostic was taken by paramedics to Robert F. Kennedy Medical Center in Hawthorne, then transferred to Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood where he has remained since Saturday night. He will stay there for at least two more days, Fenwick said.

“They want to run a maximum-stress test on him,” Fenwick said. “They ran some other tests and found nothing, but they want to make sure.”

Bostic is Valley’s second-leading rusher this season with 436 yards in 60 carries (7.3 yards a carry). He has rushed for five touchdowns.
