Carey, Wright Help Los Alamitos Dominate Cypress

LONG BEACH — Tim Carey scored twice and threw four touchdown passes to help Los Alamitos defeat Cypress, 50-0, in an Empire League game Thursday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Carey, who completed 11 of 16 attempts for 154 yards, scored his first two touchdowns on fake passes followed by a sweep around the right tackle. His first, a 13-yard run, came with 7 minutes 7 seconds left in the first quarter. He scored the second from the Cypress 19 with 1:19 remaining in the same quarter.
In the second quarter, Carey capped a seven-play, 52-yard drive with a 25-yard pass to George Sagen (8:49 remaining); a seven-yard pass to Dylan Ridgel (five plays, 57 yards; 2:04 remaining); and a 51-yard pass to Eric Anderson in one play (1:17 left).
Los Alamitos (7-2, 2-2) dominated the first half with 297 total yards to 26 for Cypress. For the game, the Griffins outgained the Centurions, 402-24.
Marchant Wright, who gained 134 yards in 17 carries, scored on an eight-yard pass from Carey with 4:43 left in the third quarter. He also scored four points on conversions (a pass from Carey in the first quarter and a run in the second quarter).
Ridgel (76 yards in five carries) also scored on a 68-yard run in the final 6:58 of the game.
Cypress is 2-7, 0-4.
