A Ventura woman and a Palm Desert man were arrested Friday in Ventura on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale, authorities said.

Michele Nield, 32, and Gilbert Uribe, 28, were taken into custody at Nield’s house in the 100 block of Taft Avenue at 11:40 a.m., Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Jim Kenney said.

Deputies found about 10 ounces of methamphetamine in Uribe’s possession, and Nield had about two ounces of the drug packaged for sale, Kenney said.

During a six-month investigation, deputies had received information that Uribe was allegedly involved in a methamphetamine distribution ring in Southern California and tracked him to Nield’s house, Kenney said. Police estimated that the drugs have a street value of $75,000, Kenney said.

Nield and Uribe are being held at County Jail. Nield was booked on $75,000 bail and Uribe was booked on $20,000 bail, a jail spokeswoman said. Their arraignment dates have not been set.
