Grossmont 3-A League

Grossmont 31, Mt. Miguel 0--For the fourth consecutive game, Jason Eskridge, the county’s leading rusher, gained more than 200 yards. Eskridge sat out the fourth quarter and still compiled 228 yards on 25 carries, including touchdowns of 22, 16 and 67 yards. Grossmont (8-0-1, 3-0) clinched the league title and held Mt. Miguel (3-5-1, 2-2) to 84 yards rushing and 32 passing.

Helix 26, Monte Vista 0--Jeremy Gottlieb kicked field goals of 30 and 25 yards, and caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Gregg Wilbur to lead Helix (6-2-1, 2-1). Wilbur and Ken Carter also rushed for touchdowns. Monte Vista is 4-5, 1-2.

Avocado League

Escondido 27, San Pasqual 9--Following the lead blocks of running back Lance Lawton, Brian Elliott had 258 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Elliott also intercepted a pass and returned it 99 yards for another touchdown. Lawton had 93 yards on 19 carries. Adam Soto had 10 tackles for the Cougars (5-4, 4-2). San Pasqual fell to 5-4, 3-3.

Carlsbad 42, Ramona 6--Quarterback Brian Byrne was 10 of 17 for 156 yards to lead Carlsbad (3-6, 1-5). David Kozlowski had five catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns, and Steve Gamblin had 113 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Ramona fell to 1-8, 1-5.

City Central League

Crawford 16, San Diego 7--Crawford quarterback Dominic Moesler was 11 of 27 for 159 yards and one touchdown. Crawford improved to 3-5-1, 2-1). San Diego fell to 6-2-1, 2-2.

Lincoln 44, Hoover 0--Lincoln (6-3, 3-0) has not allowed a point in three league games, outscoring opponents, 120-0, and has clinched the league title. Hoover fell to 1-7-1, 0-2-1.

City Eastern League

Point Loma 41, Patrick Henry 3--Alex Gresham (seven carries, 35 yards) rushed for two first-quarter touchdowns, his 17th and 18th of the season, before a hip injury forced him out at the half. The third-ranked Pointers (8-1, 3-0) have outscored opponents, 138-10, in their last three games. Patrick Henry (2-6-1, 0-3) was held to 48 yards.

Mira Mesa 49, Serra 13--Chad Davis completed 22 of 31 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 10 Mira Mesa (6-3, 2-1) over Serra (4-5, 1-3).

City Harbor League

Clairemont 21, Christian 18--Clairemont (4-5, 3-1) was assured of at least second place in league and a playoff berth. A 14-yard pass from John Price to Alfredo Tinoco with five minutes remaining was the difference. Christian fell to 5-3-1, 0-2-1.

City Western League

La Jolla 28, University City 12--Fourth-ranked La Jolla trailed, 12-7, in the second quarter before E.J. Watson scored the next three touchdowns to keep the Vikings (9-0, 3-0) perfect. Watson entered as the county’s second-leading rusher and had 215 yards on 18 carries, including touchdowns of 53, 34 and five yards. Eddie Miller covered 89 yards on 12 carries for University City (4-4, 1-3).

Palomar League

Rancho Buena Vista 37, Orange Glen 0--Edric Hall rushed 14 times for 230 yards and scores of 72 and 60 yards, and Ragan Jackson rushed 19 times for 147 yards and one touchdown, leading eighth-ranked RBV (5-4, 4-2). James VanderVeur had a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown. Orange Glen is 4-4-1, 1-4-1.

Fallbrook 44, San Dieguito 6--Craig Person and Tony Burton were responsible for five of Fallbrook’s six touchdowns in this romp at home. Person had only four catches, but two were touchdown passes from John Dutton (eight of 13, 145 yards). Person also returned an interception 30 yards to score for Fallbrook (6-3, 4-2). San Dieguito fell to 1-7-1, 0-5-1.

Torrey Pines 27, Mt. Carmel 0--Sixth-ranked Torrey Pines (8-1, 6-0) warmed up for next week’s showdown against top-ranked Vista with the shutout at home. The Falcons had 325 yards of offense, which included Kevin Dalzell’s 103 yards and Tommy Luginbill’s 98. Lineman Brian Batson recovered a Mt. Carmel (1-8, 1-5) fumble in the end zone for Torrey Pines’ third TD.

Vista 27, Poway 7--Chato Jackson scored three touchdowns, getting 91 yards on 28 carries for top-ranked Vista (9-0, 6-0). Panther quarterback Eric Jencks was eight of 12 for 193 yards. Poway dropped to 1-8, 1-5). With the victory, Vista Coach Dick Haines won his 300th high school game.

Nonleague

Morse 62, Madison 0--Gary Taylor ran for 254 yards and five touchdowns on 13 carries as Morse (6-3, 3-1) warmed up for a showdown with first-place Point Loma for the league championship in next week’s season finale. Madison fell to 0-8.

Mission Bay 34, Coronado 13--Andy Guyader completed 16 of 23 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns for Mission Bay (3-5). Buc running back Sunny Miller had 101 yards in 13 carries and caught four passes for 67 yards. Chris Bright paced Coronado (5-3-1) with 78 rushing yards.
