Loyola to Play First Exhibition Game
The Loyola Marymount men’s basketball team will play an exhibition game against the Amateur Athletic Union Lafayette Hustlers, a touring squad of former college standouts, at 5 p.m. today at Gersten Pavilion.
Loyola is expected to start Tony Walker and Terrell Lowery at guard, Chris Knight and Brian McCloskey at forward and Christian Scott at center.
Lowery and McCloskey had impressive games in the Lions’ annual intrasquad game Nov. 2, won by the Gray team, 210-176, over the Crimson. Lowery, the team’s leading scorer last season, scored 54 points, and McCloskey added 40.
The Hustlers, playing their fourth game in a national tour, are led by guards Derrick Johnson from Clemson and Steve Reid from Purdue and forward Rick Keys from Nebraska. On Friday night, the Hustlers defeated Pepperdine, 94-93.
It is the first of two exhibition games for Loyola. The Lions also play host to Trencin of Czechoslovakia at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
