Southern California Christian 61, La Verne Lutheran 0--Mike Jacot scored four touchdowns, kicked four extra points and rushed for 236 yards on 13 carries for host SCC (8-1, 5-0), setting up a showdown with Calvary Chapel for the league title next Saturday. Scott Williams also scored three touchdowns including a 40-yard interception return.

In Academy League eight-man football:

Liberty Christian 58, Heritage Christian 13 (game called on mercy rule)--Gabe Baltodano scored three touchdowns and threw for another for host Liberty Christian (7-2, 4-1) in a game at Robinwood Elementary School. It was halted in the third quarter because of a 45-point mercy rule.

Baltodano rushed for 116 yards on 12 carries, and Liberty Christian quarterback Carl Warmack threw for three touchdowns.

Alan Dixon caught five passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns for Heritage Christian (2-7, 0-5).

In the Sunset League girls’ cross-country finals:

Edison Rolls--Individual champion Shelley Taylor led Edison’s domination, completing the three-mile Central Park course in 17:49, 1:08 ahead of teammate Jennifer Formosa. All seven Chargers finished in the top 10, including Janna Evans, fifth in 19:29; Jennie Formosa, eighth in 19:38, and Janndee Evans, ninth in 19:41. Ocean View was second with 45 points, 22 behind Edison.

In the Sunset League boys’ cross-country finals:

Santa Ana Wins--Frederico Duran in third was the Saints’ top individual, with teammates coming in sixth, seventh, eighth and 10th. Mark Sanchez of Fountain Valley was the individual champion, running the three-mile Central Park course in 15:45. Ben Flamm of Huntington Beach was second, six seconds behind.

In nonleague water polo:

Capistrano Valley 8, Marina 3--Host Capistrano Valley (22-4) broke open a scoreless game with five second-quarter goals at Saddleback College. Jake Yokota had three goals and Jeremy Braxton-Brown had two for Capistrano Valley.

Los Alamitos 13, Millikan 7--Kyle Pagett and Peter Odorico each scored four goals for visiting Los Alamitos (17-10) at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.
