PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Gault Getting Passed Over at Times in Favor of Brown
- Share via
Willie Gault, who had 32 pass receptions through 10 games in 1990, has 15 through 10 games this season.
Raider Coach Art Shell wouldn’t comment on Gault’s production decrease. “If a guy is open, we’ll hit him,” Shell said.
The man stealing Gault’s thunder is Tim Brown, who has already exceeded his 1990 total of 18 with 22 catches.
Second-year defensive lineman Anthony Smith started in the Raiders’ four-man line in place of veteran Bob Golic at Denver last Sunday, but Shell said it was only because the Raiders opened in a defensive package that does not include Golic.
Golic, a solid run defender, comes out on obvious pass situations.
