Darren Humphrey, a senior at Newbury Park High, won the first event of a junior golf tour held Nov. 1-3 with a record-setting performance at Marco Island Resort, Fla.

Humphrey fired a course-record, five-under-par 67 and followed that with a 73. His opening round featured six birdies and just one bogey, and he won the tournament by nine shots.

The event was the first of seven in the ESPN-sponsored national Junior Tour, which runs from November to March. The second leg is this weekend in Mesa, Ariz.
