Westminster Has Little Trouble With St. John Bosco

WESTMINSTER — Hung Nguy scored twice on short runs and Johnny Mahurien threw two touchdown passes to help Westminster defeat St. John Bosco, 35-13, in a nonleague game at Westminster High.
Nguy scored from the one to give Westminster (4-6) a 13-0 lead just before the end of the first quarter and added a three-yard run for his team’s final touchdown with 10 minutes 44 seconds to play.
Billy Cathey, who scored the game’s first touchdown on a one-yard pass from Mahurien, set up Nguy’s one-yarder with an interception and 13-yard return to the St. John Bosco 37.
Mahurien completed six of nine passes for 123 yards. His other touchdown throw was an eight-yarder to Ernesto Robles.
Robert Besanson scored the Lions’ other touchdown on a 57-yard run midway through the third quarter. He caught three passes for 82 yards.
Christian Moore gained 53 of Westminster’s 205 yards rushing but fell short of the 1,000-yard mark for the season by 43.
For St. John Bosco (1-9), Jared Lucero rushed for 173 yards on 19 carries with touchdowns of 65 and 47 yards.
