Herb Rapp, the No. 1 singles player as a senior at Florida State in 1970, has been named the Cal Lutheran men’s tennis coach.

Rapp, a U. S. Open contestant in 1969, replaces Bruce Bittner, who resigned in September to devote more time to earning his master’s in business administration as well as for financial reasons.

Rapp, 39, is the teaching professional at Thousand Oaks Racquet Club. He has taught tennis for 14 years.

Senior cross-country runner Sasha Vujic and junior volleyball player Dawn Krenik have been named athletes of the month by the Cal State Northridge Athletic Council, a group consisting of student-athletes representing each of the 18 Matador sports.

Vujic ran a season-best 24 minutes 5 seconds to defeat 55 runners in the Cal Poly Pomona invitational.

It was the fifth consecutive time that Vujic has led the CSUN team.

Krenik of Agoura Hills recorded 70 kills, 119 saves, 13 aces, six solo blocks and 10 assisted blocks.
