PRO FOOTBALL REPORT WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAIDERS : Scott Davis Finally Shows ’90 Form
Defensive end Scott Davis, with 2 1/2 sacks against Seattle, finally showed some of last year’s form. Davis finished with 10 sacks in 1990, but entered the Seahawk game with one through nine games.
Raider Coach Art Shell said Davis’ long summer contract holdout probably slowed his development this season. “I think it hurt,” Shell said, “because what you end up doing is you get yourself in shape during the season, rather than getting yourself in shape to play football during training camp. So it had to have hurt him a little bit. Right now I think he’s rounding into top form.”
Injury breakthrough: Guard Max Montoya made it through Sunday’s game without aggravating his groin injury.
