The Green Bay Packers fired operations vice president Tom Braatz, who oversaw four losing seasons during his five years with the team. Bob Harlan, the Packers’ president, said all the candidates considered as replacements are working in the NFL. Harlan would not comment on Coach Lindy Infante’s status.

Bengal Coach Sam Wyche angrily denied that he had been fined $7,500 by the NFL for disparaging comments about officials. A source in the NFL office told the Associated Press that Wyche, Buffalo Coach Marv Levy and Atlanta Coach Jerry Glanville were fined earlier this year. “What did they do, actually tell the truth or something?” Wyche said. “Did they say something that was honest to the world?”

Andre Waters of the Philadelphia Eagles was fined $7,500 by the NFL for his attack on wide receiver Eric Martin of New Orleans after an Oct. 13 game. . . . 49er safety Greg Cox, 26, was charged with rape and false imprisonment in Monterey, Calif.
