Pawlawski, Bailey, Emtman Best in Pac-10
California quarterback Mike Pawlawski, a senior from Troy High in Fullerton, was named co-offensive player of the year in the Pacific 10 Conference Tuesday, sharing the honor with Washington wide receiver Mario Bailey.
Junior tackle Steve Emtman of Washington was named defensive player of the year.
Three UCLA players made the first team--wide receiver Sean LaChapelle, offensive tackle Vaughn Parker and safety Matt Darby. Five Bruins were named to the second team--tailback Kevin Williams, offensive tackle Craig Novitsky, defensive end Mike Chalenski, linebacker Arnold Ale and cornerback Carlton Gray.
Two USC players made the first team--offensive tackle Tony Boselli and return specialist Curtis Conway. Three Trojans--defensive tackle David Webb, linebacker Kurt Barber and punter Ron Dale--made the second team.
