PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Young Not Ready; Bono to Start Again
Steve Bono will make a fourth start in place of Steve Young, whose injured left knee needs one or two more weeks to heal, San Francisco 49er Coach George Seifert said.
Bono eased some of the anxiety over his inexperience during the 49ers’ 33-10 victory Monday night over the Rams, passing for a career-high 306 yards and a touchdown.
Young suffered a partial ligament tear in the knee Nov. 3 at Atlanta. It was hoped he would be back in time for Sunday’s game against the NFC West-leading New Orleans Saints, but it now appears he might sit out Dec. 8 at Seattle as well.
