OUTLOOK

Opponents that try to stop El Dorado by stopping all-league center Vessey won’t have much success this season. Although Vessey, who averaged 15.6 points and 15 rebounds last year, will still be the chief weapon in the Golden Hawks’ offense, Henshall expects more scoring from more players. “We’re going to be a better balanced offensive team, and we’re going to share the wealth,” Henshall said. “We’ve got a lot of players back who have improved quite a bit, and we’re running a new offense that gets everyone involved and takes some of the pressure off Erin.” El Dorado is strong on the perimeter with all-league guard Yoshina, who made 35 of 84 (41.6%) three-pointers last year while averaging 12.4 points. Yoshina also will direct the Golden Hawks’ up-tempo offense. Caruso can play guard or forward, and Conley and Clifford provide additional depth in the back court. The front line is also deep, with Tonjes and Sweet providing pure outside shooting and Garrett, DeBruijn and Jones are tough on defense and the boards.
