Davis replaces Lisa McNamee, who is now an assistant at Stanford. The Eagles’ new coach, who coached at Woodbridge last season, is used to winning. Davis led the Warriors to the Division II-A championship and a 26-5 record in his first year. “I know Estancia has a strong winning tradition in girls’ basketball, so I’m happy to be here,” Davis said. “We lost three starters, so I don’t know if we’ll start off too fast, but I think we can be a pretty good team by the time league comes around.” Estancia will rely on speed and defense, with Sweet the chief offensive threat. She averaged 13.9 points last season and was an all-league selection. Braatz is the team’s top rebounder and inside threat and also earned all-league recognition after averaging 8.1 rebounds. Davis hopes to get all his players involved in the planned up-tempo offense but isn’t sure who will step up as the top outside scorer. “I had some girls come out late from other sports, so I don’t expect to know everything about this team for a while,” he said. “We’ve only got four seniors, so it’s going to take time.” Davis is impressed with his team’s aggressiveness and plans on using as many as 10 players each game.
