Outfielder Kevin Mitchell of the San Francisco Giants denied an accusation that he forcibly raped an acquaintance, a Chula Vista police detective said. Mitchell, the 1989 National League MVP, was arrested for investigation of rape and other charges Saturday afternoon at his off-season home. Detective Tom Everett said: “He denied forcible rape. I’m not telling anything else he said.”
