Cameron, in his first year with the Flames, took one long look at his tall and deep roster and promptly proclaimed it capable of repeating as Arrowhead League champion. “I expect us to win our league,” he said. “We should be able to play with anyone on our schedule. We have a lot of good athletes.” The main drawback, Cameron said, is that some of the players lack experience at the varsity level. One who doesn’t, however, is Williams, a sharp-shooting all-leaguer who averaged 17 points last year and whom Cameron said is deceptively quick. Another is Hatcher, who makes up one-half of the twin towers with Decker, a 245-pound power forward up from the JV. “He (Decker) will make a big defensive impact. He should sweep the boards,” Cameron said. The two also should be a factor offensively. “We’re going to run mainly a flex offense against man-to-man defense, but if we face a zone, we’ll just post up our big guys (Hatcher and Decker),” Cameron said. Among the newcomers, Cameron points to Corral and Sugachi as potential key players. “Kazuki is a real good shooter and Joel is going to be real good if he keeps his head in it.” Cameron said the Flames will mix it up defensively, but also will do a lot of trapping and will rely heavily on the full-court press.
