OUTLOOK

The Raiders will go as far as St. Clair can carry them. He averaged 15.6 points as a sophomore and had a 35-point game against Troy. He opened this season with 21 points against Huntington Beach, hitting seven of 14 shots, getting five assists and six rebounds. “I haven’t seen anybody better than him,” Murphy said. “I wouldn’t trade him for anybody. He’s the best guard in the league.” Unfortunately, St. Clair didn’t get much help in a 26-point loss to Huntington Beach. “I was disappointed,” Murphy said. “We were intimidated at times. We’re real big and have a lot of players back, but we just didn’t play well as a team. I think that’s correctable.” Sonora played Troy twice in the Valencia summer league, losing both times, but Murphy noted, “We can play with Troy.” Kincaid was the most valuable player on the junior varsity team last season. Sonora is the biggest team in the league, going 6-6, 6-5 and 6-4 on the front line, but it could also be the slowest. “The league will be a ‘winner-on-any-given-night’ situation,” Murphy said. “The league is the most competitive in years.” Murphy has revived the Sonora tournament after a three-year absence. It begins Dec. 17, with Century and Troy the co-favorites.
