PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Hebert Could Be Back Monday

Share

The New Orleans Saints, having lost four games in a row and sole possession of first place in the NFC West, are hoping to get quarterback Bobby Hebert back for Monday night’s game against the Raiders at the Superdome.

Hebert has not played since Oct. 27 because of a bruised rotator cuff in his throwing arm. A decision on whether to start Hebert, who was in uniform for last Sunday’s loss to Dallas as the third quarterback, will be made sometime this week.

“I’ll make the decision before Monday night,” Saint Coach Jim Mora said. “It just depends on what we see in practice.”

Raider defensive end Howie Long, who strained left knee ligaments against the San Diego Chargers two weeks ago, said he might be able to return this week in a limited role. The Raiders have officially listed Long as “out” of Monday’s game, along with reserve linebacker A.J. Jimerson and guard Steve Wisniewski, also suffering from knee injuries.

The Raiders probably will add a lineman to the roster this week to replace Wisniewski--possibly Joel Patten, a Plan B acquisition who has not played since undergoing preseason knee surgery, or Todd Peat, released in training camp after tearing his left triceps.
