Coach Walin isn’t hesitant to put a little pressure on his young team. “These are the best athletes I’ve had here since 1987,” he said. “They’re very, very quick, they run well, and although they’re small, they play well above their height.” And Walin has set high expectations. “We’ll be among the top three teams in the league,” he said. “If we’re not, then there’s something wrong.” The Sentinels looked promising during the summer league, winning 15 games, and opened this season with a 21-point victory over Bolsa Grande. “We’ve been getting into foul problems in our first two games,” Walin said. “We’ve been pressing and playing a lot of man-to-man, and we’ve been fouling too much. But we can really go (offensively) too. We’ve had a couple 27-point quarters.” Walin’s top player is his son, Andy, who averaged 11 points, four rebounds and four assists last season. Although his size allows him to play inside, Andy Walin likes to shoot outside. He set a single-season school record with 47 three-pointers last season, including seven against Laguna Hills. Williams averaged 10 points and seven rebounds last season and Isaacks averaged four points and two assists.
